chess Vacations
I'm fed up with players taking "vacations".just when they feel threatened. Am I wong or is there some logic to this madness?

I have never seen this! Players take vacations when they need a vacation. I just love whiners who say this to me when I am playing 200+ games. Why if an opponent THINKS they are winning and someone takes a vacation that it is intended toward them. Are they that self-centered? Stop whining and prove you have the win on the board when their vacation ends.

No i disagree IHATEPACKERS. It is NOT polite what some persons in Chesshere do. They put vacation mostly for the following reasons: 1)First to annoy you, especially if you are winning. Some patzers told me that if i want to win i must wait their vacation to end, or a draw will be accepted? Did i said "Ok here is a draw, i am threatened?" NO! I said be my guest, lose ALL your vacation days and finally you will be defeated BIG time, without having vacation flexiblility anymore. 2)Second reason is to keep their rating up as long as possible, but somehow, i believe both reasons doesn't make sense. 3)The third reason is more interesting. On some tournaments, Soe people wanna see how their opponents play, their openings etc etc and since they are no "premium" members here, theuy can't see their archive. So? So they want to have a picture of what they will face, in order to prepare themselves. Interesting method but in any case, if you are better than somebody else, you can win period. If someone is a patzer it DESN'T matter! Let him be. Vacation? Ok!!! Be my guest! Patzers NEVER learn, patzers never feel the beauty of chess. Chess is not only about the game. Chess has values. Chess is a lifestyle.

On his home page HATEY says "I do not take vacations because of you." Now he whines about people who say he takes a vacation because he is losing. I have no problems with people who take vacations, but I do wonder why some of them make moves in other games while on vacation.

the thing is. sometimes you can be tired of the slavery brought by correspondence chess. It requires a lot of time everyday and no mistake is allowed.Correspondence chess is a monk discipline.Sometimes I think,"I'm gonna resign all my CC games because i'm tired to be forced to play everyday!! i want to play real time chess!!" So instead of resigning all my games I put on the vacation until I'm in the mood for cc chess.Everyone may have different reasons to be on vacation.CC Vacations are necessary to keep the human rights and freedoms! and i dont think we can properly guess why is someone on vacation.

I cannot control anyone, but I can control my reactions to everyone. Let them do what they will; why should I get all bent out of shape by someone taking a vacation? Go buy a new chessbook and improve your game. You cannot control the wind but you can change the position of your sails.

The third reason that Dreadshadow tells seems very interesting and surprising to me, but someone should think about his games, moves etc. instead of spending time by thinking on such tricks. I don't understand people sometimes. Just play your games and if you think you need a rest or if there is a situation, take a vacation. Shame on you those who manipulate vacations! Who knows, maybe they can find other stuff to manipulate at chesshere =)

I'm sure there are people who abuse the vacation system, but there are way more people that genuinely use it. If I leave town but will have limited internet access I put vacation on, but if I get a chance I check my more exciting games and sometimes make a move even while on vacation. I don't get what the big deal is really, vacation time is finite, and while it takes a few months to finish a game anyway, what is waiting a bit longer? Impatience isn't a virtue, especially in CC.

Vaz i believe that's truly ok! You get vacation in order not to lose through time. It's OK with me! No problem. Seriously. BUT! Sometimes people get vacation even to annoy you. Like i care.... :P I was waiting for an opponent to move for 80 minutes, it was August, i was sweating but who cares? I was there. He was too. He was sweating. Real life chess is full of surprises. His answer was a simple move, then he has 5 minutes for the whole game (no extra time per move or someting) and he lost after 12 more raid moves. When i asked him why it took him so much time, he told me that he tries to annoy his opponent by a psychological war or something, then try fast chess to beat him. Whatever! :P Those cheap tricks can be used even i an official tournament you see. WHO CARES! Let them try those trick, lt them NEVER develop theirselves.
