Why I play chess

I have been playing chess for four years already. In 2004, I was introduced to international chess by my elder cousin. He was and still in advance level. I would say I am in intermediate 1 level. I wouldn't dare say I am very good but I ain't any pushover either. I was inspired by my cousin and Bobby Fischer to play chess. While lead by hunger for more competition, I train myself to improve. However my lack of concentration is a major factor to many of my losses. Frankly speaking I'm better at real time chess rather than day by day chess because of concentration. But it is also because I know I can improve further on my skills and concentration, I play more and more and against many people. Not only players around my standard but of those who are weaker and stronger. It brought me joy and thrill. Playing chess has some good effects on me such as being slightly more patient(Im not a very patient person), mathematics subjects grades are improved as well. As time goes by, I know more friends as I play. And more friends are also lured to me. Good relationships are built up. Although there are times when I see people blow up because they are unable to win, I am touched by those who have sportsmanship, and are patient. hey too inspire me to play on. So these are mainly the reasons why I play international chess. Hopefully, in the future I really grow into an excellent player.

Hi! I am KindredSpirit and invite you to read my free blog about chess experiences over 64 years of chess in various roles as player: organizer, TD, club treasurer, CCLA,USCF and NYSCA official, correspondence player; in other words, a chess devotee having a love fest with the game. Today I am in the fan club of "over-the-hill gang"and do not relish crossing swords with some titan who has to stand on the chair inorder to move the pieces and makes me shudder to think "where did this kid get so good?" Kidding aside, I had to give up the serious side of chess tournament play because of the faster time controls (not my cup of tea)and on doctor's advice to put a check on my nerves. Some accuse me of it being an excuse not to find murders-row waiting for me. Well, maybe but what better reason, eh?? Keep working on your game and enjoy the experience of chess study, and getting the fundamentals down pat as your talent allows. I have only one thing to add: No matter how good a player becomes, there is always someone out there who is stronger and others weaker who are gunning for you to chop up your rating. Take heart and enjoy the battles and friends you come across. My final advice! KindredSpirit.

I like chess beacuse you get results instantly and these results are not subjective; it is an one-to-one game and not a team game and win-loss all depends on entirely on your own skills/mood/concentration. Though a win gives boost to your ego, loss brings you balance as in real life success and failure are part and parcel of life. I tend to live with both wn and loss. Also if I make many successive win/loss, I lose interest in the game after sometime and hence mix of win and loss will keep the interest in the game. With playing online, I have chance to experince the both at my wish. When I lose with strong players few times, to get back my confidence I can choose play with weaker player and go back & chanllenge stornger player. With this king of approach my improve gradually.
