Player: Impaler Subject: how should computer users should be detected? 2009-10-25 11:29:30 |
| is ther a way that chesshere should deal with the ascending number of members using chess software in the CC and RTC section? Is it not about time that some sort of regular system is implemented, not only to detect but also to eradicate this scurge? do you have any opinion in this matter? Should chesshere take exemple on othet sites? | - |

| Anyone that can match a chess program like Fritz 95% of the time should have no problem verbalizing how they arrive at GM level play.
As I stated in the beginning of my post this discussion is almost always fruitless and a waste of time.
But to suggest that a person cannot not explain how he arrives at Master or GM level play is pure nonsense in my opinion. | - |

| Obviously Capablanca was a cheat since he was very inept at explaining his moves. | - |

| How many Capablancas do you think on on this site? | - |
|
89 dontresign | 2009-11-10 13:45:27 |
| If you know anything about chess or not, you can still not deny the truth that an educated person with experience at it can catch MOST cheaters. Its impossible to get all, but with good methods you can catch the most obvious. It has been done and is being done on many top real time servers currently. | - |

looks like starting this thread got me the boot from MOD status.... Oh well it was fun while it lasted | - |

| Don\'t feel bad buddy, all the good mods either leave or get booted.It\'s not worth losing sleep over. | - |

| #87 Quote\"Obviously Capablanca was a cheat since he was very inept at explaining his moves\"-Blake,you amaze me,I think you get dumber with every new remark you make.Botvinnik calls Capablanca\'s book \"Chess Fundamentals\"the best chess book ever written.
Capablanca was world Champion from 1921-1927.If he cheated as you say,he certainly didn\'t do it with a computer you dumb ass. They weren\'t invented yet!!!!!!!! | - |
|
93 Taichung | 2009-11-10 19:00:41 |
| Happyjack hello!! Blake was saying that he could not verbalize his games. But he wrote a book so his verbalization must be pretty good too. It is ridiculous!! | - |

96 happyjack | 2009-11-11 09:57:38 |
| It certainly is complete nonsense Taichung. You have to consider the source I guess.It\'s hard to imagine Capablanca logging into \"Fritz\",lol | - |
|
97 extopian | 2009-11-11 10:08:11 |
| Verbalising while you move, yes. After the event, well, if I were a GM like Capablanca I might well say I cant be bothered, go figure yourself, you can buy my book later.lol | - |
|
98 blake78613 | 2009-11-12 03:16:21 |
| Capablanca could certainly write well but he didn\'t explain his moves very well. According to Capablanca you should play the \"natural move\". All well and good if you are a genius, but what was natural to Capablanca was not so obvious to the rest of us. Capablanca was largely an intuitive player, and later in his life his intuition started to betray him. Can you imagine the effort it would take to explain a move so that happyjack could understand it. | - |
|
99 angelfish | 2009-11-12 04:50:56 |
| presumably a natural move is one that \'looks\' right without deep analysis, and whose deep analysis you JUDGE for expediency not to be a good use of resources ... that doesn\'t mean you are not using your thought processes at all or that you can\'t provide insights at all ... after all, explanations take many forms ... you could easily say something analytical ike \'if 23 Ne2, then ...\' ... or you could explain an usual move by saying, \'i was afraid my knight might get trapped (bishop get blocked, whatever) at some point ... / i was afraid of a queenside pawn advance / i ... if you are chatting with someone you could surly give an inkling of an intuitive thought process ... for sure, there is a (very small?) chance that if not one then maybe the other of the two humans involved in this discussion might lack powers to verbalise ... so let\'s have a trial period! ... then again, blah, blah, blah, waste of time posting, etc etc ... < 3 | - |

101 blake78613 | 2009-11-12 06:30:38 |
| But suppose the person you have to provide insight to is a simple-minded idiot like happyjack. | - |

104 happyjack | 2009-11-12 09:36:07 |
| blake, you may call me a simple minded idiot all you want but your the one who suggested that Capablanca had access to \"chess engines\"
and cheated.I simply pointed out that chess playing computers were non existant in Capablanca\'s day.If a simple minded idiot like myself knows that then what are you? | - |
|
105 happyjack | 2009-11-12 09:47:37 |
| A while back Impaler told us there were only 2 Mods who had the authority to ban people from the forums so it shouldn\'t be that hard to figure out who took away his Mod Status. | - |
|
106 Impaler | 2009-11-12 11:00:10 |
| yes there are only 2 person that can actually ban people from forum
the first one is Yosefh who happens to be the head programer of chesshere and EPR88 who is a simple mod but the fact that he was \"hired\" post Gumpteous was given the possibility to ban but he cannot unban people from the forum
And there is adminchesshere who actually owns chesshere. his real name been hagay avisar, in fact technically his wife Hagit Avisar owns chesshere.
There has been a rumor that chesshere was up for sale but this needs to be confirmed. AS for Gumpteous, he is now owner of a new site ( still in construction) www.logicchess.com it looks quite promising really! | - |
|
107 happyjack | 2009-11-12 13:57:23 |
| Thanks impaler, interesting comment.It\'s not hard to tell that this site might be for sale. The owners aren\'t exactly pouring any money into it.The owners wife must own this site for tax purposes no doubt.I believe I will go and say hi to Amir for old times sake lol. | - |
|
108 FrippezMonTchu | 2009-11-12 16:49:44 |
Me too I hope he learned something while he owned this site and will not repeat the same blunders. | - |

I\'m going to use \"corrie\" as my name.Might as well be honest.If i get booted I get booted, | - |

It was a no brainer for me too; Henri DeToi. He can boot me as well; no skin off my neck. | - |
|
111 FrippezMonTchu | 2009-11-12 19:32:07 |
In any event, I don\'t believe he will. He needs the players. It\'s a new site; therefore I presume he will grant us renegades an amnesty. | - |
|
112 happyjack | 2009-11-12 21:23:34 |
Guess we will find out soon enough. You look cool in your new jacket Henri! | - |
