For me Chess is like poetry

by Barrell

For me Chess is like poetry, not the bad stuff you see on the doors in toliets but the good stuff that's in books and the like.

In fact since I'm just CRAZY about Chess (well at least vintage French Chess), I decided to compose a poem about it.

Here it is, I hope you enjoy it.

Chess, Oh Chess,

You can even play it in the mud,

but if you're not that good,

We play chess not for the game itself

by kobesarmy

Chess is the view you see when you look down Mount Everest, It is the love you see when you see someone you know, Chess is the wind the tickles your cheek as you walk on a breezy day, As it sheds its majestic light, bringing the true soul out in your heart.

We play chess not for the game itself, but for the joy of playing it.

The reason I love the game of chess

by DASME

The reason I love the game of chess ,is , there is no hidden moves from the players it's not like a card game where you don't know what the next card will be. And there is really no luck evolved in chess. If you or you opponent make a mistake that is not luck it is ether a lack of skill or a lack of concentration. I enjoy the challenge of my opponent another human being.

Chess to me is a learning experience

by dolcelatte

Chess to me is a learning experience. Everytime I play, be it someone new or an a well practiced rival I am learning new tricks and plays. When I first revived my chess playing; I was given a Simpson's Chess Set for my 25th Birthday by my wife, having not played since about the age of 8 or so, when it was constantly frustrating being the youngest of 4 boys, I would get beaten everytime, and so gave up at that point- I played against a good friend for six months, as we both worked evening shifts, whilst I looked after my children at home. He had been playing chess since his early years, in fact a champion of several chess clubs where he grew up. This was a learning experience for me straight off the bat, as he showed little or no mercy. For the first six months, I felt like I was the 8 year old again, constantly losing against a bigger brother!

I promised not to give, and he started to "take back" moves, so that every game was not a write off, and soon I star ... Read more >>>

Chess teaches and relaxed me

by raditya

Chess teaches and relaxed me.

I'm maybe not look like a regular chess player. Actually I'm more like a bulky and big sports junkies.

I like hard sport such as soccer, Basketball and martial art. I'm quite good at that, and always been picked up for the first team in any tournament my sports club entered.

Before my friends know that I love chess since my childhood, they always thought that I was a bullying type. A big muscles with no brain. But I love chess. I started playing chess at age 5 and since then several time ejoying tournaments. The best position was a champion in regional junior high tournament. since then my chess skill was declining, only becaus ... Read more >>>

i began playing internet chess after..

by francis3

Dear Chesshere team, I have just returned home here to Washington state after spending 3 months in Tennessee. It was there i began playing internet chess after  an abscence of playing the game for 30 years while i was in college. I must admit i got pretty good, even once beating the best player in the chess circle. I was in Tenn. helping my sisters care for our mother who was diagnosed a week before Christmas with terminal cancer, they gave her only 4 to  six months. I will always be grateful that God had situated my life in such a way that i was able to spend those last months with her, along with my sisters and home hospice. When i did have some spare time i was on the internet playing chess, i found it was the only time i could place my mind, occupy it, keep it busy on something other than what lay ahead. Well, on April 29th, at 2:37 p.m. Mom was taken home, and now back at home i continue to relearn the Game, and find so far that ChessHere is a very friendly place, unl ... Read more >>>

I believe that Chess is not only a game

by xmen_zaga

I believe that Chess is not only a game or sport, but it is a way of life. There are a lot of theories and principles about how to play chess in all levels but often we neglect the real value of chess principles as applied in our real life situations. Although I have not reached that far in chess as my ambition was once to become a grandmaster someday or even a world chess champion like Garry Kasparov, I have learned and applied the lessons from the masters in playing chess and especially in dealing my life. That is why, until now i really love to play chess which always reminds me how to face the challenges and problems that i will encounter.  Chess serves as my inspiration to live life in a noble manner just like the way how i played chess
