Chess represents a struggle of minds

by petitbonom

Chess represents a struggle of minds, to strive for and enjoy victory, but just as importantly to learn from ones losses and acknowledge a stronger player. It represents a way of communicating with like minded people from the whole world. It is a universal game with a universal language,....a pleasure

I\'ve been in love with Chess for years

by siri

I've been in love with Chess for years.  Problem is, I have no one with whom to engage a strategy of wits, determination, and escape.  So, I have to say that finding chesshere was a perfect fit for me.

Yes, escape.  When I'm involved in the experience of meaningful Chess, I can literally escape the realities of life.  In fact, I can often resolve issues that are buried beneath the surface of "real life" and thereby cope better with what I couldn't see before.

And, notice I've not called Chess a "game".  It's not a game, but a way of life.  I equate Chess with life.  One move often determines in which direction your life may go.

Thank you for the opportunity to share my feelings about Chess.

Chess is an exercise in mental therapy

by Glenn123

Chess is an exercise in mental therapy for this old dog, as well as entertainment. You see, once you get to a certain age in life there is nothing on TV that relates to you any more and you need something to keep the grey matter of your brain from going any darker :-(.

Thanks for the web site.

For me, chess is art

by ruda

For me, chess is art, a duel of wits, for which all that was once said about a novel - that it represents a totality in a world without one - is evenmore true. It is also a metaphor for a human life as such, in which the beginnig is set and the same for the best and the worst player, and the end certain in one of four possilble outcomes

i have enjoyed chess since i was a little child

by The_Kings_Best

First off i have enjoyed chess since i was a little child, My Father showed me how to move the pieces, it was my job to Learn the game. Many people fail to understand that  you can not be taught how to play chess you can only be taught the board, the pieces, the movements, openings and stratagies. Chess is a game of infinite possibilities. How can anyone be taught something thats infinite? This brings me to the answer to your question,

Chess represents life for me,Decisions in life compare to moves in chess, Some Decisions you make will set you ahead with advantages, some decisons will set you back leaving you to make better decisions that can bring you back to a even ground or even ahead, Sometimes you purposely have to make decisions that seem wrong for the moment but you have a bigger plan.I may sell my car today and catch the bus to work in order to save for the d ... To me chess is away to be a general in a war

by GQ-2008

To me chess is away to be a general in a war and to see who battle strategies is supreme.  It is no other game like chess because chess have nothing to do with luck.  It is just two minds going at it, both trying to figure out the next player move and counter it in real time.  Chess to me is it own world where your the one in charge

online chess

by moser

For me, online chess doesn't represent only a short escape from everyday business, it also represents life as it is. In life we have to fight for survival, we know, that if we won't give all our efforts in surviving, someone else will overrun us. The same is by chess: wheather I win, or my opponent will. In fact, chess is a very agressive game - it represents battle and a chess-table is covered in blood every time I play, moving my pieces over the table, calculating and foreseeing, all with an objective to win the battle. As a conclusion, chess is not only a game for a couple of old men to play while thay drink their morning coffe, it is also a fight of two hunman intelects, who use chess-figures instead of fists to show their overpower

chess - battle of two minds

by LwantsS

It is a battle of two minds. An expression or exercise of the intellect overcoming adversity. It sharpens the mind in a way little else can. In a world where too many things are decided for us and we are much too often told what to think and believe chess is a refreshing moment in which we can think critically and for our selves. Strategy and tactics are essential in my mind to finding the best conclusions and making the best choices in life. Whether it is business or every day life, some good comes from such thinking. Chess is a work out for the mind & when the mind if working at its peak all aspects of life will improve. Chess is more than a game to me, it is something that I miss & need in my life. With out chess my mind does not sharpen and I can not truly be the best I can be

Chesshere repesents for me a big chesstool

by ALEGRO

I play chess for long time. I guess I have started playing when six years old.
I always played in school. And I was on a good level. but never on a chessclub level,
though I have also won against chessclubplayers.
Now I have a little bit more time and I am trying to get on a chessclub level by means
of some good books and some software.
Next month i will join a chessclub here in my hometown Berlin.

Chesshere repesents for me a big chesstool where I can find human opponents to play with
and to improve my chess abilities.

With best regards
