playing the game of chess since 3rd grade

by jayant_gh

First of all let me introduce myself, beginning with my name, Jayant, and I have been playing the game of chess since 3rd grade. I don't have a big story to narrate, but whenever I play chess I consider the game as our own life wherein we are chased by the opponents soldiers which can be considered as the difficulties of life, and which help me learn the point that I have to stay at that point, face difficulties, and then take some step to save my side getting stalemate or checkmate, which means keep on working hard till I succeed. Keeping this kind of mentality from the game has helped me carry on my life.
Once again I would like to thank you guys for considering my opinion regarding the game.

by tufguy

Chess is the best mind game ever invented. Its amazing how it depicts the world we live in-You should always be one step ahead of your competitors. Wisdom and time go hand in hand. Being very wise but slow wont do and neither will being fast and unwise! The two are perfect twins!

Thats why i love this game!

Chess represents the uphills and downhills in the brain

by das_geth

Chess represents the uphills and downhills in the brain. The uphills are white boxes and the downhills are black boxes. The coins represents the peak points in the brain. If one has more peak points in the brain, he will win the others.Like that if one can maintain more coins with the opponent he will win.I have a confident that i have more peak points.

Chess means to me

by Pythia

Chess means to me is that since I am a retired person approaching my mid  70's is my passed time activity, since I have very little else to entertain myself within my financial (pensioner) position. I found your site indeed an excellent one in every aspect to the extend that I' m spoiled now and I don't even look for another site. I really love this smart game for many years but  I never had time to enjoy it more than my last ten retired years. Thank you for your kindness to ask for my story,  yet I don't expect any treatment outside the normal terms applying for every one else. Sometimes five games a day you allow me may be just enough and I' m thankfull to have those free of charge.Thank you again for your time you spared to write to me. Have a nice day

My story in the chess world is very simple

by kaplan

My story in the chess world is very simple.
From my childhood,I knew to play chess, but really I only knew to move the pieces properly.
Now I am 63 years old, and ten years ago, I was very pressed in my job; I needed something in order to alleviate the situation.
By chance, a friend of mine, invited to me, to play chess in a new club, and I thought that this coincidence, could be a softening for me.
In the club I discovered the chess excellence, and its awesome wonders, there, in the club I learned some openings and game theory.
Although I follow being a modest chess player, now, I am a chess lover for two main reasons; first, because chess has been the solution
of my job problems; and second, because I have understood the splendour and the science of this game.
Now I play chess frequently and obviously I enjoy a lot.
Thank you chess for your help.
Kind regards to all the fr ... Read more >>>

chess its not the win, lose or draw

by timelord

To be honest trying to explain what Chess means to me, is a little like trying to explain the colour blue to a blind person. It has for me been both a gift and a curse as it has the ability to take me through the full gamut of human emotion and back again within the space of a few moves.

Over the years i have come to realise that in chess its not the win, lose or draw that's important to me,as long as i have enjoyed the game and hopefully learned from mistakes made, i consider it time well spent with the added bonus of the many friends i have made that started out as opponents via chesshere.com

"Chess is not a matter of life or death, its much more important than that"

Thank you

chess is a very wonderful game

by emmanuelasi

chess is a very wonderful game and I feel pity for those who don't know how to play chess because it seems that they don't know how to love!

I started playing chess rather late at the age of 15 from my twin brother and my classmates.  I was always beaten but that never stopped me.   Jocel, my twin brother, and  I used to  hide from my  father  who is  against  the game because he can see most of the chess players in our barangay do not have jobs  and  not decent looking.   I can still remember when we were told by my father to look for our corn fields about 5 kilometers from our home.  Instead, we played chess all day we did not notice that my father was there already and he practically chopped the chessboard into pieces and my beloved chess pieces were cooked and we were required to drink.   Of  course,  the  two of  us  run  as fast as we could!

obviously chess is a battle of sorts

by unsubscribed_account1

"obviously chess is a battle of sorts"? , but the question is "what is the struggle between", and is it really a struggle or a natural flow. To percieve it mearly as a strugle between two opposing forces may lead you to miss much about the nature of the game and it's evolution. Yes the are fighting one an other, but like in martial arts to oppose force with force leads to ugly games without any grace or finnese. For me this is best illustrated by the sicilian defence, white stakes out e4,d5,f5 with the initial and common advance of e4, and black as opposed to directly opposing this searches for a way to flow round the occupation of said squares with the advance c5. Without writing a book on the subject, I would say it is due to the very nature of this move that makes the sicilian so exciting to play and watch.

When one is playing chess, are you battling someone else or yourself. I would say the latter. Certainly for me  it is an internal battle or st ... Read more >>>

In my entire life I really dont feel like playing chess

by liza79

In my entire life I really dont feel like playing chess. In my hometown chess is the least played board game honestly speaking hence I was never introduced to the amzing features of it. However, when I tried playing it in chesshere.com I did find it amusing and mind cracking that I cannot sleep at night without thinking what went wrong why I cannot win any game with my opponent. He or she is just a terrific player and I admire him or her techniques very much. I need to beat this opponent of mine and I need chesshere.com frankly to make this dream a reality.

Thank you for the wonderful site you have provided me. Chesshere.com is just the site for me today.

CHESS IS NOT JUST ANOTHER GAME

by BLUEANGEL

HI,FIRST I WOULD LIKE TO THANK YOU FOR THE OPORTUNITY!
CHESS IS NOT JUST ANOTHER GAME FOR ME,THAT'S BECAUSE IT HELPS ME TO IMPROVE MY CONSETRATION,TO CALCULATE AND ANALYZE DEEPER AND MORE CLEAR.
I BELIEVE THAT CHESS IS LIKE LIFE,YOU HAVE TO TAKE DECISIONS,IMPORTANT OR LESS IMPORTANT AND EVERY DECISION/CHOICE BRING YOU ANOTHER...THIS IS LIKE WALKING ON A PATH WITH MANY CROSSROADS DIRECTIONS...
ALSO I LIKE IT BECAUSE LUCK HASN'T ANY EFFECT ON THE GAME PROCEDURE,IT'S ONLY A MATTER OF MIND CONDITION AND TACTIC STRATEGY.
I'M PLAYING CHESS SINCE I WAS CHILD,MY FATHER HELP ME TO LEARN.
FROM MY FATHER I GOT THE BASIC KNOWLEDGE AND THE UNDERSTANDING OF PRINCIPALS,AS THE YEARS PASSED BY,I HAVE GOT MORE KNOWLEDGE IN THEORY AND A LOT MORE PLAYING EXPERIENCE.
I THINK THEORY AND PRACTICAL EXPERIENCE ARE EQUAL IMPORTANT TO DEVELOP A STRONG CHESS PLAYER.
I USED TO PLAY ON A CHESS CLUB,I'M STILL MEMBER WITH AN ELO AND KNOW I'M PLAYING EVERY WEEK WITH ... Read more >>>
