The chess represent ,,a delight and a paradise

by Haladepeste

The chess represent ,,a delight  and a paradise of the intelligent people'', as A Alekine said!

I have got a lot of good or bad mach chess, a road between agony and ecstasy.

When I win, I am happy; I am thinking of M. Tal, Booby Fischer, A. Karpov - the best players. A good move is a challenge for me and for my partner. If he responds with a good move the game is fantastic. One must make a lot of good strategic moves to win. The end of the game is the most important - as Capablanca said. A good player always wins in the end.

The chess is a provocation, you can win or lose very easily. You must always find the best solution.

for me chess represents Life

by Xfakt0r

What does chess represent for me.. hmm what a good question . . to some its about winning.. to some  its art. . others use it to represent where they are from.. their country. .

for me chess represents Life.. not as we know it now, but back in the medieval times.. you have your pawns.. workers..regular people in the old times. . then you have the castle.. or rook.. which in medieval times was the home of the king :D the Knight, one who protects the people, then comes the influence of the church with the bishop.. then ofcourse come the king and the queen.

Now i believe that chess is an exact replication of Life as it was.. there are more pawns.. or regular people than any other piece. on the chess set.

there are 2 knights 2 castles and 2 bishops.. and 1 queen who is the most powerful piece on the board and the only female chess piece.

back in medieval times the queen was the most powerful in a sense..the king would go ... Read more >>>

The Chesshere.com Team just made me an offer

by Goldie

The Chesshere.com Team just made me an offer I cannot refuse. Imagine, ‘tell us a story and if we like it, I just might get a free premium membership, free’ and mention in - chessheres blog. Well like most other folk who play chess, I guess, the problem will never be telling a story but, rather which story to tell now, where to begin and how long it should be. Well this story is going to be short and about the first and only time I beat England’s first Chess Grandmaster, Tony Miles. Please, don’t rush off to Wikipedia, you won’t see mention of this contest there or in Geoff Lawton’s publication, ‘It’s Only Me’ (an anagram on the name Tony Miles) or any other publication for that matter. This is a historical first mention.

Tony Miles came to affirm in me certain qualities ... Read more >>>

Chess is represents a multitude of things

by huaboxer

To me Chess is represents a multitude of things. I list them and try to explain .

1. A great way to allow my mindset to explore a favorite past time solving problems on the spot and on the fly too, lol . Yes , of course i love blitz chess too.

 2. It also represents to me a practical and easy way to explain & explore the many nuances of Taijiquan philosophy, body mechanics, and combat principles . I often use Chess to teach a student of mine ;but sometimes just a friend or acquaintance too . it's a very beneficial & long lasting way to help them to get a basic comprehension of the Yin/Yang dynamic.

3. Of course Chess also represents to me a useful way to allow tension to dissipate from the day's daily grind , and still feel like u have actually accomplished something more than sheer letting off steam or relaxing on the couch to watch T.V.. which is btw very boring

4. I GUESS THAT LEADS to one of the more subtle , but very impor ... Read more >>>

why chess has become as vital to my life

by ezbking

Hello , and thank you for giving me the opportunity to to attempt putting into words why chess has become as vital to my life much like water and food. I have been playing chess (I only play online because I don't know anybody to play with in person) regularly for 3 years. I first played 35  years ago and actually fell in love with the game then. I played only occasionally because I didn't know many people who played. When I was 25 I moved to Long Island , New York. There I joined the East Hampton chess club and played very regularly for about 4 months before I moved from there. That was 36 years ago and had  played about 20 total games from then  until about 3 years ago when I started playing dayly online.   As a youngster I developed quite a competitive nature playing all sports. As an oldster chess fills this emotional need for me . I love to win chess games but more important to me is the basic feeling I ... Read more >>>
