Chess is an adventure

by anthonyjoel

Chess is an adventure,

A well planned trip into waters navigated many times,

But holding the same thrill every time!

There are familiar landmarks every where,

Reminders of past injuries and perils,

Or jubilant exaltations!

The tight deadly corners are ever in place,

A grim memento of ever lurking danger,

Or gleeful advantage!

When I was a teen-ager I found myself interested in chess

by mdebess

When I was a teen-ager I found myself interested in chess when my Dad learned me how to play . I won all my opponentes including my eldest brother . In the begining my Dad was wining me but soon I started to win him and at that moment he stopped to play with me . Then I won one of my relatives who was a university student . During my university days I joined chess team in the medical college I started to loose some games but I was still number one in the team . I joined some tournaments but I lost due to lack of experience and some tension and anxiety during tournament play . I invited the first player in Egypt at that time to my house , we played two games the score was one game for me and one game for him . After my graduation I was busy with my career then I travelled to Saudi Arabia where I am living now . I was trying to play with any good player I met in work enviroment . Then I found through the internet many chess sites which offer real challenge with real players so I joine ... Read more >>>

Chess for me is Life

by VOLTAIRE20

Chess for me is Life

I started playing when I was second year high school. By that time, my father does not want me to play chess. He does not like to buy me a chessboard, so, I borrow from my friends or from my school.

But, when I brought the chessboard home, my father usually throw it outside and I will end up crying while picking up the board and the pieces.

However, this did not discourage me from learning chess. I studied the game secretly using available reading materials from newspapers and magazines. Eventually, my skill improved and I became a chess champion in our town when I was third year high school. I won a trophy and a 1 year scholarship in my high school. That's when my father bought me a very expensive chessboard made of mahogany.

I continued playing chess. It helped me go through college since I was a varsity scholar. We were very poor but I didn't pay tuition fee because of chess. ... Read more >>>

Chess to me represents life

by Webel1glenn

Chess to me represents life. Since I believe that life should be strategically planned to avoid failures. Like the games that I played it should be carefully planned to avoid losing a game.

Chess is everything for me

by charrua

Chess is everything for me. I am always thinking about it, imaging moves or remembering past games. I like to study games with my son (20 years old), who is another fanatic. Everyday before going to sleep, we spend some time playing or studying games. And we frequently forget the time and the following day we are sleepy. And sometimes my wife gets angry with us because dinner is ready but we are inside the chessboard!

by Revcedbur

Chess represents and outlet for my mind. Taking the "war" of life to an intellectual dimension. To match wits face to face or faceless with tacticians and strategists from all over. Correspondence chess particularly, for I span the globe from my keyboard
