chess represents a lot to me despite my how young I am

by BrainBuster

Personally, chess represents a lot to me despite my how young I am. Since the 4th grade when I was first introduced to chess it was my passion and my outlet for stress in many ways. I was always on the outskirts of society and didn't have that many real friends but when it came down to it I had chess. Chess was there for me when I was lonely and had no friends to play with. Chess was there for me when my parents weren't because of a divorce; whenever they didn't have time to spend with me or there was shouting and things going on I could turn to chess as I way to isolate myself from the world and its many problems. Chess was even there for me when it came to school; if I  had a problem with some homework and just couldn't figure it out, I would just play some chess and in most cases my mind would just seem to loosen up and many things became clearer to me. To me, chess represents what counselor does for many; an outlet for my proble ... Read more >>>

I love to play chess

by CHessplaya01

I am a 15 year old male who lives in New York City. I love chess more than any other game. In school my friends and teachers have all realized that I love to play chess. During lunch they see me pull out a chess set and start playing other students or they see me take out a chess book and start reading.. The only problem is that I want to play chess but I canʼt. This is because apparently chess is not allowed in my school. One day I was playing and the assistant principle saw me and he confiscated my chess set. Since I was not allowed to play chess in school, I felt like my world had been destroyed, the passion I had for chess just faded. Until I discovered Russian chess players playing at the park. For me, chess is a game of losing and winning

by jeabiad

Chess, for me is a game of thinking and fun. It isn't about fame but something you would like to learn. For me, chess is a game of losing and winning. If you would like to be good at it, you must be on a willing mind and heart to win and learn  from your mistake. My note to myself is underestimation leads to solemn destruction. That is why I'm trying my best to win to be on my to become a chess grandmaster.
