Deciding whether or not to have milk in your coffee changes your life (albeit in a miniscule way). Learning to play chess and pursuing that education affects the way you think and thus the way you act. Ergo, it changes your life.

Sure Anzarbond. If you play too much your wife will divorce you and strip you of all your assets. That will change your life. However there are studies that show that chess accelerates problem solving skill development in the young. I think it must improve objective thinking quite dramatically since "all lies are exposed on the chess board". Perhaps it will do so for adults too, and if you're thinking more clearly, surely you'll make some better decisions in your life.

Yes fayyaz. Chess can be very therapeutic. Many years ago when I had started a new job, I was very tense and worried about how things would turn out. But I played correspondence chess by snail mail in those days and rather than worry about work and not sleep, I used to play through chess variations from my games in my mind as I went to sleep. Then I would sleep well and as it turned out, things went pretty well. Did it change my life? I don't know, but it certainly kept my mind in a healthier condition.

they say chess teaches you to be more clear-minded.i agree with that and i think my actual way of thinking and personality was at least inspired from chess iff not entirely changed.“Avoid the crowd. Do your own thinking independently. Be the Chess player, not the Chess piece” (Ralph Charell).i think this is the most important lesson that chess teaches you.and iff you become obsessed or addict of chess,i think this its the best addiction you can have.but of course theese are my opinions
