Hi , we just celebrated thanksgiving today in canada, i think our southerly neighbours, celebrate in a week or to, not today for sure...

Is this custom worldwide, or only celebrated in the new world? basically it is a celebration that gives thanks for the bountiful harvest, recognizing that foodstuffs, are not a take for granted thing.

I think it would be safe to say , it now encompasses thanks for good health, good procreation, good work, good athletisism, good education, etc...

It would be poor judgement on my part, to not recognize that the above is not an integral part of many peoples lives, basic shelter, basic food , basic education, basic health care, not to mention the deadly hazards of weapons, poor to nonexistent clean water supply and this list also could go on and on..

I have only to exercise my memory in this regard to several posts here in our forum, so is thanksgiving celebrated in your home country...

LOL, my mistake for sure, it's almost a decade ago now, but i should have remembered that , as my family lived in the States for almost three years. I'm sure part of my excuse can be that it was so easy to roll into the rhythms and routines and patterns of our host country...
