5...Nxe4 loses a piece. Black regains it, but with a fatal loss of time. Black soon discovers that the pin on his Queen Knight cannot be neglected so airily.

8...e4, the move that which Black relied on.

10...exf3, else he forfeits his chance to regain the lost piece.

If 11...fxe2 12.bxa8(Q) and Black cannot reply 12...exd1 because his King Pawn is pinned.

In many of these traps, Black loses because he commences operations before adequately protecting himself on the King file.

Normal is 5...Bd7 apparently.

5...Nxe4 seems obviously wrong, but ...
