Dmitry Aleksandrovich Obolenskikh (born September 27, 1985) is a Russian professional chess player who holds the title of International Master (IM), awarded in 2012. Representing the Russian (RUS) federation, Obolenskikh is highly regarded as one of the strongest and highest-rated active non-Grandmasters in the world, having achieved a career-high FIDE classical rating of 2544 in 2020 and 2025. Based in Irkutsk, Siberia, he has a strong competitive profile as a formidable tournament player in national open events, rapid and blitz formats, as well as a prominent trainer, organizer, and national arbiter in regional Siberian chess.
