Biography & Major Career Milestones
Pichot developed as a child prodigy in Buenos Aires, Argentina, dominating the national youth circuits. He secured Argentine national championships across multiple age groups, including the Under-10, Under-12, Under-14, and Under-18 categories, notably winning the Under-18 championship when he was only 12 years old. In 2008, he won the Under-10 Pan American Chess Championship, which earned him the FIDE Master title.
In September 2014, Pichot won the Under-16 section of the World Youth Chess Championships in Durban, South Africa, finishing clear first with a score of 9/11 points (+9–2=0). Following his steady progression, he completed his final norms and was officially awarded the Grandmaster title in 2016 at the age of 17.
Pichot made his mark on the senior international stage in July 2019 by placing fifth in the American Continental Chess Championship with 8/11 (+6–1=4), a result that qualified him for the FIDE World Cup 2019. In 2022, he took clear first at the Magistral 50 Aniversario Torre Blanca in Buenos Aires, scoring a dominant 8/9 (+7–0=2).
In August 2023, Pichot officially transferred from the Argentine Chess Federation to represent the Spanish Chess Federation (FEDA). This high-profile transfer followed public disputes regarding financial and structural support with the Argentine federation leadership. Following his relocation to Europe, Pichot won the 10th Ibero-American Chess Championship in Linares, Spain, in October 2024, finishing sole first with 7½/9 points.

Playing Style, Material Tendencies & Endgame Profiling
Pichot is characterized by a dynamic, active, and concrete playing style, emphasizing direct king safety threats and active piece play. He possesses a sharp tactical vision and is well-known for his theoretical willingness to enter razor-sharp lines. He regularly seeks active piece play over passive defense, even when managing structurally compromised positions.
Pichot’s approach to material imbalances is highly concrete; he is comfortable defending with isolated queen's pawns or accepting minor pawn structure damage in exchange for piece coordination, space advantages, and offensive momentum. In the endgame, Pichot is a technical calculator. He has demonstrated high-level defensive resourcefulness and technical execution in complex rook-and-pawn endgames, as evidenced in matches against world-class opposition in rapid and blitz controls.

He also employs the Berlin Defense of the Ruy Lopez when seeking maximum solidity:
Against 1.d4, Pichot relies on the Queen's Gambit Declined, heavily favoring the Ragozin Defense to secure active piece play and pressure the center:
When seeking asymmetric setups against closed openings, he integrates the King's Indian Defense into his rotation:
