Playing Style, Material Tendencies & Endgame Profiling
Dai Changren possesses a positional, technically precise style typical of the modern engine-trained generation. He exhibits highly refined concrete calculation and a pragmatic approach to defensive structures. Rather than aiming for immediate tactical refutations, Dai prefers to establish stable positional foundations, focusing on small advantages such as the bishop pair or spatial superiority.

In open systems like the Sicilian Najdorf, he handles typical pawn-structure weaknesses and file pressure with a high degree of defensive resourcefulness, utilizing precise calculation to coordinate his pieces under pressure. His technical endgame play is notably disciplined; he is particularly adept at converting slight positional edges in rook-and-minor-piece endings, and constructing highly structured defenses in passive endgames to secure draws against higher-rated opponents.
