Denis Maksimovich Makhnev is a Kazakhstani grandmaster born on February 20, 2000, in Pavlodar, Kazakhstan. Representing the Kazakhstan (KAZ) federation, Makhnev was awarded the FIDE Master (FM) title in 2014, the International Master (IM) title in 2016, and the Grandmaster (GM) title in 2021. Denis Makhnev emerged as one of Kazakhstan's most promising junior chess talents. In 2015, he scored 8/11 at the World Youth Chess Championship Under-16 and 7/13 at the World Junior Championship.
