Overview

Seyyed Mohammad Amin Tabatabaei (born February 5, 2001) is an Iranian grandmaster who represents the Iranian chess federation (IRI). He was awarded the International Master (IM) title in 2015 and achieved the Grandmaster (GM) title in 2018. Tabatabaei reached his career-high classical FIDE rating of 2718 in July 2024, which ranked him number 24 in the world. He is recognized as a world-class professional tournament competitor and a long-standing core player for the Iranian national team.

Tabatabaei developed rapidly through national and international youth ranks. In 2009, he won the World School Chess Championship Under-9 in Thessaloniki, earning the Candidate Master (CM) title.
