Miguel Santos Ruiz (born October 4, 1999) is a Spanish Grandmaster (GM) representing the Spanish Chess Federation (ESP). He is the great-great-grandson of the celebrated Spanish philosopher Miguel de Unamuno. He earned the FIDE Grandmaster title in 2019, following his final norm in 2018. His career-high classical FIDE rating is 2605, achieved in September 2021. Known as a versatile professional, Santos Ruiz actively competes as a tournament player and a team representative, while also establishing himself as an elite chess coach and opening theoretician. He has served as the head coach of the Swiss absolute national team and has worked extensively as an elite second for World Championship Challenger Fabiano Caruana.

Miguel Santos Ruiz developed as a prominent junior talent in Spain. At age 13, he claimed the Seville Absolute Championship. In 2013, he was crowned Spanish Under-16 Champion in Salobreña. In 2017, he earned a bronze medal by tying for third place at the European Under-18 Championship.

In October 2019, Santos Ruiz delivered a stellar performance at the FIDE World Junior Chess Championship in New Delhi, India. He occupied the top positions throughout the tournament, notably defeating Indian prodigy R Praggnanandhaa in Round 8. Despite a final-round loss against Shant Sargsyan, he finished in clear fourth place with a score of 7.5/11.
Santos Ruiz represents various clubs across European national leagues. He actively competes in the Spanish League (División de Honor) for Club de Ajedrez Solvay, the German Chess Bundesliga for FC Bayern München, and the Swiss Team Championship.
