Gao Rui (born May 20, 1992, in Qingdao, Shandong Province, China) is a Chinese chess Grandmaster (GM) who represents the Chinese Chess Federation (CHN). He was officially awarded the International Master (IM) title in 2009 and achieved the Grandmaster title in 2013. Gao reached a career-high classical FIDE rating of 2568 in May 2018. He is primarily active as a tournament professional, an experienced competitor in the Chinese Chess League, and has represented Tianjin Foreign Studies University in elite collegiate events.

Gao emerged as a competitive junior talent in China during the mid-2000s. In 2008, he traveled to Hungary and won back-to-back first-place finishes at the First Saturday IM tournament editions in both May and June in Budapest, securing his International Master title norms.
