Playing Style, Material Tendencies & Endgame Profiling
Tabatabaei represents the concrete, computer-era calculation style. He relies on sharp tactical sequences and highly integrated engine preparation rather than purely intuitive positional plans. His treatment of king safety is dynamic; he is highly comfortable defending under pressure or accepting structural self-compromises if they yield active piece play.
In middlegames, Tabatabaei handles space advantages with great flexibility and has a penchant for kingside aggression. His understanding of deep theoretical complexity allows him to steer transpositions effectively. He is proficient at handling typical modern structures such as the Catalan isolated d-pawn or dynamic pawn storms in the Sicilian Defence.
In endgames, Tabatabaei possesses refined technical conversion skills. He is adept at converting small positional pluses, particularly in active rook endings and queenless middlegames where superior piece coordination can exploit subtle structural weaknesses.
